2.0 out of 5 stars Everybody is right., April 12, 2012

All the bad reviews for this camera are pretty much spot on. The touch screen is horrible. So is the battery life. The wifi part of it is kind of difficult to get working. I did get it working with my iphone. I couldn't get any of the other wireless options working though. The picture quality was not bad. If you like the camera, and do not like the touch screen or the wifi part, there is the Canon Elph 520: Canon PowerShot ELPH 520 HS 10.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom 28mm Wide-Angle Lens and 1080p Full HD Video Recording (Black). It looks like the same camera as the 530 but without the wifi and touch screen. The 520 is a little cheaper. I am not sure if there are any other differences though. I returned my ELPH 530. However...I just bought the new Panasonic ZS20 which is cheaper than this camera as of... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk, April 9, 2012
This review is from: Canon PowerShot ELPH 530 HS 10.1 MP Wi-Fi Enabled CMOS Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom 28mm Wide-Angle Lens with 1080p Full HD Video and 3.2-Inch Touch Panel LCD (White) (Electronics)
I have had this camera for about a week and it really is a disappointment. The UI sucks, the quality of the pictures looks like my older camera that I was replacing by buying this one. 10mp are used when in 4:3 mode but when you switch to 16:9 (wide) it goes to 7mp. The white finish will probably get dirty really quickly. The 12X zoom is almost pointless because the quality of the pictures are poor. Micro SD slot it nice for me because I had 16gb cards just laying around in my room. The battery life on this camera is horrible. I transfered a few photos through wifi (to Facebook) after taking maybe like 20 photos and the battery went dead. The videos maybe in 1080P but the image quality is grainy.

I have had this camera for about a week now and I enjoy it. I already own the Sony NEX 7 but wanted something small enough that didn't have a ringtone. I agree with one reviewer that the white model should not have been matte. It is easy to stain the body with dirty fingers for example. I would use magic sponge to clean it though, just don't get it too wet.

Let's be clear, this is not a smartphone when it comes to the touchscreen. The UI is working well for me and responsive. The wifi feature is working well with my iPhone and iPad and since I have photostream on the photos show up on my mac. I have not yet tried to link my camera to the computer. It does take good pictures and so far I am enjoying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING CAMERA!!!, August 15, 2011

This review is from: Sony Alpha NEX-C3 16 MP Compact Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm Zoom Lens (Black) (Camera)
So I bought this camera last week and took it on a 5 day trip to Arches, Bryce Canyon, & Canyonlands Nation Parks. It was great! We took video, pics, and everything. I sold my Nikon D80 and bought this and between the two, I think the photos are much nicer on the NEX C3. My only gripe is that the battery could last a little longer. I bought a big 16GB card and I have to charge the battery about 3-4 times in order to fill the card now. So it would be nice to have a little extra juice on the battery.

The camera is super small. I read all kinds of reviews, watched videos, etc.... but was not ready for how small it was once I held it in my hands. I have pretty big hands and it was a little weird to hold because of it. It wasn't a deal breaker by any means, but something to be aware. It is tiny. The weight and main bulk of the camera is the 18-55mm lens that comes with it, and not the camera body.

I've gone back and reviewed the video and photos I took. I can't say... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars what a wonderful camera, November 1, 2011
First let me say that I was an advanced point and shoot person just looking for better pictures, no more and no less. No, you do not need the Sony Nex 5N camera. The C3 is wonderful. Absolutely beautiful pictures. You CAN NOT get the depth of field, and the proper shadows that should be in pictures when you shoot normal people in a point and shoot camera. You need a full size APS-C sensor that is in the DSLR cameras but at a fraction of the size of these big cameras. The color and flesh tones are amazing. The richness of colors of the things in the backgrounds are so accurate. This camera uses easy to understand menus on the LED screen making this camera ideal for those afraid of stepping up to a full sensor camera. You do not have to know what an F stop is, an aperture, or what shutter speed to use to get great pictures. Just set it on automatic. This camera is so accurate in its picture taking. In low light you will get pictures you can not believe. This camera has so many in... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars All Things Considered, an Amazing Camera, August 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I've had many different digital cameras, but this one has rapidly become my favorite in most respects.

Camara Body and Feel
It is very small and comfortable to hold. It feels sturdy and well-built. All of the buttons are solid to the touch. Changing lenses is simple and fast, and it comes with an attachable flash.

The Menus/Interface
The interface is mostly easy to use and understand. It will take a little time to get used to, but it shouldn't be too much of a hindrance. There are only a couple of buttons on the camera that specifically do one function. Most of the buttons are assignable, so you can quickly get at the options you use most.

Image Quality
Stunning. Unless you're a professional who is used to cameras that cost several times as much as this, you will be impressed at the image quality. The large sensor allows for a lot of fine detail and really helps when there's not much light. The low-light capabilities of this... Read more

The Lumix G 20mm/F1.7 ASPH, a compact and lightweight "pancake" lens, is dramatically compact and lightweight, featuring an outstanding F1.7 brightness which allows consumers to create stunning photos with beautiful, soft focus. 4.0 out of 5 stars Very solid performer; shows the potential of M4/3, May 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7 Aspherical Pancake Lens for Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Cameras (Camera)
I recently purchased an E-P2 as a portable option to complement my DSLR setup. I've been very happy with its performance in most respects, however it has no flash and the kit lens is slow; this means that indoor usage results in painfully high ISO and noise that is impossible to clean. That lead me to purchase this lens, which is the fastest thing going for M4/3 currently.

First off, this thing is wonderfully compact. Much thinner than the M.Zuiko 14-42mm kit lens, although a bit bigger in diameter, and it makes the E-P2 even more low profile when it's mounted. It balances well on the E-P2 and it looks right at home to me, even though it lacks the signature PEN silver accents. It has a massive manual focus ring which is a pleasure to use (once you get the hang of the micromotor manual focus mechanism, which it shares with the 14-42).

Unlike the newer, smaller... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars E-P1 owners, your dream lens has arrived - UPDATED, October 18, 2009

This review is from: Panasonic LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7 Aspherical Pancake Lens for Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Cameras (Camera)
If you own an E-P1, you absolutely owe it to yourself to get this lens right now. I used to own the 17mm and loved its size, but found the image quality lacking. There are plenty of detailed reviews of this 20mm lens out there so I'll spare the tech details.

I've had this for a little over a week and the performance is just amazing. Auto focus speed is very good, not super speedy, but definitely not slow. Images look sharp even wide open with lovely bokeh. It's not quite as nice as the Panasonic/Leica 25mm 1.4 for 4/3, but it is half the price and 1/4 of the size.

I have some good glass like the Olympus 50mm f2 and Olympus 14-52 mark II 2.8-3.5 via the adapter, but those will probably stay on my E-620 since this Panasonic 20mm fits the E-P1 like a glove.

It's amazing how this lens makes the E-P1 come alive like no other lens I've used on it before.

UPDATE 7/12/2010
It's getting close to one year of full use and this lens is still... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for narrow depth-of-field effect in a compact set, October 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7 Aspherical Pancake Lens for Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Cameras (Camera)
I originally bought the Panasonic Lumix GF1 with the 14-45mm kit lens, and then bought this 20mm pancake.

The pancake turns the GF1 into a really compact set, that I enjoy taking together anywhere. I keep the 20mm lens in the camera most of the times, and only when I know I'll need some telephoto I replace it by the 14-45mm lens.

I owned previously only point-and-shoot and superzooms, so I wanted to try some DSLR, but I was afraid I wouldn't take together because of the bulk. With the GF1 + this pancake lens I have a small camera that I don't mind carrying and that takes DSLR-quality photos.

It lacks OIS, but I don't really feel the need as this is a very fast lens. With the f/1.7 aperture, you can also create nice narrow depth-of-field effects, which are impossible on point-and-shoot cameras.

I just wanted it be a bit wider... notice that this pancake is actually a 40mm in a 35-mm equivalent focal length. Probably in the future Panasonic... Read more
